At Achievement Academy Afterschool, our mission is to create a warm, family-centered environment where every child can learn, play, and grow after the school day ends. We partner with parents to nurture curiosity, character, and confidence—investing in today’s youth so they can become tomorrow’s innovators, leaders, and compassionate citizens.

Our Story
Achievement Academy Afterschool is more than just a program — it’s a purpose-driven mission grounded in family, experience, and a deep belief in the potential of every child.
We are Catherine and Cameron Mitchell, a husband-and-wife team with over 25 years of combined experience in childcare, youth development, and afterschool programming. Our journey began while working at local afterschool programs, where we first met while serving children and families in our community. It was there we saw the true power of afterschool programs — not just as a place to go after school, but as a place where kids could grow, explore, and thrive.
As parents of four children ourselves — including teens and a vibrant elementary schooler — we understand the need for safe, structured, and engaging afterschool care. We’ve faced the same challenges as many working parents and saw a real need for a program that blends academic support with creativity, fun, and genuine love.
That’s why we founded Achievement Academy Afterschool — a program built on the same values we live by at home: family first, growth through discovery, joyful learning, and strong community connection.
Here, children are not just supervised — they are supported, celebrated, and seen. Every activity is intentional. Every staff member shares our heart. Every family becomes part of our extended family.

Achievement Academy Afterschool is a licensed child care provider operating under the regulations set forth by the Kentucky Division of Child Care. Our program meets all required standards for safety, staff qualifications, staff-to-child ratios, recordkeeping, supervision, health practices, and curriculum for school-age children.
